Where to Find Documentation

This document describes the issue(s) resolved by this release and includes installation instructions. The Administrator's Guide and additional product documentation is available on the Citrix Web site (Article CTX116089).

Issue(s) Resolved by this Release

  1. The Citrix Desktop Delivery Controller Service and Citrix IMA Proxy Service do not work if the Log On As account is changed from Network Service, and no Event Log entries are written to explain the failure. Following this fix, the two services will stop if the account is changed from Network Service. If the service is configured to run as a user with permission to write to the server's Event Log, Event ID 1126 will be written to the log describing why the services have stopped. Note that if the user does not have permission to write to the server's Event Log, then Events 1126, 1120 and 1121 will not be written.

    [#194144]

  2. In certain Windows 2000 Native Mode domains, the Active Directory configuration wizard fails to set up Active Directory as it cannot create controller service connection point (SCPs). This error is recorded in the ADSetupWizard log file as "Failed to create SCP for [Server] [Exception]: The specified directory service attribute or value already exists".

    [#194524]

Installing and Uninstalling this Release

Notes:

  • This version is packaged as a .zip file containing the replacement DDCServices.msi file. For more information about deploying these, see Microsoft article 884016 or visit the Microsoft Web site and search on keyword msiexec.

  • To install this version successfully, servers must not have registry modification restrictions in place.

  • You may be prompted to restart the server when the installation or uninstallation is complete.

To install this version:

  1. Copy the file to a shared folder on the network.

  2. Unpackage the .zip file and save the file DDCServices.msi on the server you want to update.

  3. Run the .msi file.

  4. Restart the server if prompted to do so.

This will add a new entry, Citrix Desktop Delivery Controller - Services, to the Add/Remove Programs list.

Using this version for new installations:

  1. Copy the installation media to a shared folder on the network.

  2. Unpackage the .zip file and save the file DDCServices.msi to the w2k3\en\Citrix Desktop Delivery Controller and x64\en\Citrix Desktop Delivery Controller folders, overwriting the existing DDCServices.msi files.

  3. Run the autorun.exe from the network share and follow the instructions as normal. The autorun installation will use the new package during the installation.

To uninstall this version:

  1. From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

  3. Highlight Citrix Desktop Delivery Controller - Services and click Change/Remove.

  4. Follow the directions on-screen. Warning: this process will remove the Citrix Desktop Delivery Controller Service from your computer - it will not roll back to the previous version.

  5. To return to the previous version, run the original DDCServices.msi package from theCitrix XenDesktop 2.0 CD.
