Description of Problem
A cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in XenServer’s XenAPI HTTP interfaces. When a specially constructed URL is sent to XenServer, the response is sent containing the requested URL without proper escaping. This could potentially be used to execute a client-side script in the browser of a user.
The vulnerability affects the following versions of Citrix XenServer:
l Citrix XenServer Express, Standard and Enterprise Edition version 4.1.0
l Citrix XenServer Dell Edition (Express and Enterprise) version 4.1.0
l HP integrated Citrix XenServer (Select and Enterprise) version 4.1.0
Customer using XenServer versions up to and including 4.0 are not affected by this vulnerability.
What Customers Should Do
A hotfix has been prepared to address this issue in all versions of the 4.1.0 product: XenServer-4.1.0-hotfix2 (2008-02).
Citrix recommends that all affected customers install this hotfix, which can be downloaded by issuing a “Check for Updates” request from the XenCenter GUI.
